It’s never too early to talk about March Madness. It’s one of the most exciting sporting events of the year.

Although there’s still nine months separating us from the next NCAA Tournament, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi is still hard at work updating his NCAA Tournament projections for the 2022 tournament. He believes that more than half the B1G will earn a bid this year.

This week, Lunardi provided an update to his latest bracketology. With so many players entering the transfer portal and incoming freshmen arriving on campuses, there’s a lot of fluctuation with March Madness predictions.

Still, Lunardi likes what he sees out of the B1G, projecting eight teams to earn a bid. He also expects two more to be on the bubble, but has Wisconsin and Northwestern listed in the First Four Out category.

Here’s Lunardi’s latest projections for B1G teams, as well as their first-round matchups:

#1 seed: Michigan Wolverines (vs. #16 Yale)

#2 seed: Purdue Boilermakers (vs. #15 Louisiana)

#2 seed: Ohio State Buckeyes (vs. #15 Winthrop)

#3 seed: Maryland Terrapins (vs. #14 South Dakota State)

#5 seed: Michigan State Spartans (vs. #12 Ohio)

#6 seed: Illinois Fighting Illini (vs. #11 Colorado)

#8 seed: Iowa Hawkeyes (vs. #9 Virginia)

#9 seed: Indiana Hoosiers (vs. # 8 Florida)

First Four Out: Wisconsin Badgers, Northwestern Wildcats
