Iowa and Wisconsin are gearing up for a race in the B1G West, but FOX College Football analyst Joel Klatt sees one team with a decent edge right now.

Both Iowa and Wisconsin are good teams, but the loss by the Hawkeyes in Week 6 highlights some key flaws. Unfortunately, Iowa’s offense was overmatched and inefficient in a road loss to Michigan.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin already has a dominant performance over Michigan, albeit at home, and looks primed for a strong season. The Badgers do have to play Ohio State this season while Iowa doesn’t, but that still doesn’t change Klatt’s opinion of the West.

During a recent FOX College Football segment, Klatt answered a tweet from a fan in breaking down how the two teams stack up in the B1G West. According to Klatt, the Badgers have a clear advantage right now due to a stronger defense and the work of Jonathan Taylor:

“I think Wisconsin is better than Iowa,” said Klatt. “Wisconsin has a singular better player in Jonathan Taylor. They have a faster defense, and what I saw against Michigan concerns me about their offensive line and their ability to pick up pressure, and that’s exactly what Wisconsin’s going to do.”

While Klatt was blunt about Iowa’s odds in the division, he made sure to reiterate that he does think the Hawkeyes are a solid team. However, Wisconsin’s resume is currently stronger:

“I’m concerned for Iowa in the West,” explained Klatt. “Are they still a decent team? Yeah, they’d finish second in the ACC. Certainly!”
