It may be early in the season, but the 2022 coaching carousel has already started to turn.

Several coaches, including Dabo Sweeney and Kirby Smart, saw large contract extensions, and Week 2 saw the firing of Scott Frost from Nebraska.

Fans should hold on, as tt looks like this may just be the beginning.

Analyst Joel Klatt said on Wednesday “The big decision this last weekend from Trev Alberts to let go of Scott Frost. Earlier in the week, we saw Dabo Swinney get his extension. In the offseason Kirby Smart got his extension. The coaching carousel is wild.”

On his show Monday, Joel Klatt discussed the reasons why universities spend so much time, effort, and money on just one position. Simply put, Klatt believes it’s the most important hire a university can make.

“The head coach of the football program is the most important hire that any university can make. Every president and athletic director will tell you that. The president and athletic director know that the football program is the front porch of the university. The identity of the institution.”

Fans will certainly have their eyes on the carousel as the season progresses.
