Georgia gave Alabama its biggest challenge of the year on Saturday. There’s no doubt that Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide don’t want to have to face the Bulldogs again.
But should Georgia’s performance, a 35-28 loss to Alabama, be enough for the College Football Playoff selection committee to give the Bulldogs serious consideration? Should it toy with the idea of letting a two-loss, non-conference champion play for a national title?
FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt thinks that idea is bogus.
After Championship Saturday came to a close, Klatt fired off a tweet, providing his input on Georgia being the fourth team in the College Football Playoff. He didn’t need a lot of words to explain why he didn’t like it.
“Under no circumstance do I believe a 2 loss, non-champion deserves to go to the College Football Playoff,” Klatt wrote on Twitter.

Georgia was ranked No. 4 in the country prior to Saturday’s loss. At No. 5 was Oklahoma and Ohio State was No. 6. Both teams finished the year 12-1 and both won conference title games.
Both the Sooners and Buckeyes appear to be more deserving of that final spot.
Last season, Ohio State was a two-loss B1G champion, with losses to Oklahoma — which reached the Playoff — and Iowa. If the Buckeyes weren’t deserving last year, with a better resumé, how can Georgia receive serious consideration this season?
Many believe that Georgia is worthy of serious consideration. Klatt doesn’t think that should be the case.
We’ll find out what the committee decides on Sunday afternoon.
