Joel Klatt ranks three B1G teams ahead of Clemson in his Top 10
Clemson rebounded Saturday from its near loss to North Carolina a few weeks ago with a blowout victory against Florida State, but they’ve continued to receive criticism for nearly losing to the Tar Heels.
On Wednesday, FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt joined in on the Clemson “bashing” ranking the Tigers at No. 7 in his Top 10 FBS teams while making a guest appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State were all ranked higher, and the Buckeyes came in at No. 1 on the list.
“I think Clemson is a really good football team, but they have not played to their potential,” Klatt said. “If you put any other emblem out there outside of Clemson or Alabama, and you said, ‘here’s this team, and they’ve come out and they’ve played far below expectations and have just a one-point win over a middling team with a first-year head coach.’
“Let’s say it’s Ohio State, let’s say Ohio State would have come out, played below expectations and had a one-point win against Indiana — you’d be crushing them and rightly so.”
B1G fans should be excited about these rankings. After getting snubbed from the College Football Playoff two years in a row, seeing three of the conferences teams in the Top six on anyone’s Top 10 list is fantastic.
However, it means absolutely nothing. As even Klatt basically admits, Clemson will probably go undefeated in the soft ACC and thus make the playoff again.
