Joel Klatt isn’t worried by Oregon’s close call against Wisconsin. In fact, he believes the Ducks not having a close call until Week 12 is the real takeaway for Dan Lanning’s group.
During the latest episode of The Joel Klatt Show, the popular broadcaster for FOX said that every top team has a performance like Oregon’s at some point in the conference schedule. He also says there’s no concern because the Ducks still found a way to step up and get the win.
“Everybody in the country has one of these in conference play. The fact that Oregon didn’t have this kind of game in conference play until this point is actually pretty remarkable,” described Klatt. “Everybody else has done this.
“So is it cause for concern? No. This is not cause for concern. If anything it shows that they can go out there and win one of these games and not lose a game like some of the other teams have this year that they shouldn’t have.”
One other factor that Klatt brought up is that Oregon was playing its 8th straight Big Ten game in consecutive weeks on the road in Madison. Until this one, the Ducks had dominated in just about every game, save for the dramatic win over Ohio State.
“They also played 8 straight games in the conference… Oregon just played 8 straight conference games in consecutive weeks,” said Klatt. “They’re the only team in the country that has done that.”
Now, Oregon can take a hard-earned bye week to regroup and prepare for the regular season finale and whatever comes down the road.
