Jordan James, Oregon RB, declares for 2025 NFL Draft
Jordan James made his future plans official, confirming on social media that he is heading to the 2025 NFL Draft after 3 seasons at Oregon.
The star running back made a major impact during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, even during his time playing in tandem with Bucky Irving. While Irving was one of the top players in the Pac-12 a season ago, James still tied Irving for 3rd in the Pac-12 with 11 rushing touchdowns. James’ 7.09 yards per carry also led the conference.
This past season, James finished 3rd in the Big Ten with 1,267 yards while averaging 5.44 yards per carry and was 1 of just 3 players in the league with at least 1,200 yards. His 15 rushing touchdowns finished 2nd in the B1G and tied for 17th nationally, and he’s using that performance to jump to the NFL.
“Three years ago, I made the decision to step out of my comfort zone and join a team that would change my life forever,” wrote James. “None of this would have been possible without God, the unwavering support of my family and friends, and the guidance of my coaches and teammates.
“… To Oregon: thank you for everything. Choosing to become a DUck was the best decision I’ve ever made. I am deeply grateful to every member of the coaching staff, the strength and conditioning team, the trainers, and, most importantly, my teammates who have contributed to my growth — not just as an athlete, but as a man.”

James finishes his career with just over 2,200 rushing yards and 31 rushing touchdowns. He finishes 5th on the Ducks’ all-time list for rushing touchdowns and opens up a major need for Oregon’s offense.
After an undefeated regular season, Big Ten title and Playoff appearance, Oregon will need to replace a bevy of offensive stars. That group so far includes QB Dillon Gabriel, the team’s leading rusher in James, the leading receiver in Tez Johnson and a key TE in Terrance Ferguson.
We’ll see how Dan Lanning is able to reload for the 2025 season.
