Josh Pate of 247Sports broke down the Penn State-Purdue matchup. He believes this game could be a tone setter for whatever team comes out on top.
Purdue has just 1 ranked opponent on their schedule this season. That team is No. 18 Wisconsin on Oct. 22. Other than the matchup with the Badgers, Pate thinks that the Penn State game is the biggest game on Purdue’s schedule.
“Purdue, in many ways, stands for the biggest opportunity to spring off a Week 1 result,” said Pate. “Because Purdue plays their toughest game in Week 1. Look at the rest of Purdue’s schedule. They go to Wisconsin, that’s the next time they would play a ranked opponent.”
This is also a big game for Penn State, according to Pate. Nittany Lions fans are starting to get fed up with James Franklin’s antics, and are looking for him to take the program to the next level.
“You know what kind of pressure is on the Penn State program? 2 of their 1st 3 games are on the road,” said Pate. “2 weeks later, at Auburn. This Penn State-Purdue game will have every given Saturday ramifications attached to it.”
You can watch Penn State-Purdue Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
