Juwan Johnson credits "next play mentality" for bounce-back
After a four-catch, one touchdown performance against Illinois, is Penn State wide receiver Juwan Johnson ready to break out?
Whether or not Johnson will light it up for the rest of the season is still up in the air, but at the very least the 6-foot-4, 231 pound wide receiver has gotten off schneid after a slow start to the 2018 season. He’s also taken a great approach to his early-season struggles, so perhaps the rest of the season will start looking up for him.

Johnson started the season off rather slow, not scoring a touchdown in any of No. 9 Penn State’s first three games. He also dealt with plenty of drops, which certainly hampered his production.
Still, the wideout came into Penn State’s contest with Illinois with focus and that paid off for him, and the Nittany Lions, in a big way. Talking to the media ahead of PSU’s gigantic matchup with No. 4 Ohio state, Johnson gave his mentality the assist for why he was able to bounce back.
“It’s definitely frustrating, but the one thing I try to do is try to [have a] next play mentality, and try to focus on that next play,” Johnson said regarding his frustrating start. “If you try to focus on it you’re going to keep worrying about it and you’re going to drop another one. So the one thing I try to do is just forget about it, move on, erase it and keep moving forward.”

Penn State is going to need all of its available firepower, including Johnson, this weekend when the Buckeyes come to town — because it could end up being a boat race.
The Nittany Lions do have the top scoring offense in college football, putting up 55.5 points per game. OSU is right behind them though, with the Bucks putting up 54.5 points per game of their own.
