KenPom releases updated rankings: 8 B1G teams make top 25
KenPom’s college basketball ratings have been updated through Wednesday’s game, and the Big Ten looks like it’s clearly the toughest conference in the country.
A staggering eight teams are currently in KenPom.com’s top 25. For context, the Big 12 has five teams in the top 25 and the ACC has six.
Here’s where every Big Ten team who made the top 25 currently sits:
- No. 7 Wisconsin
- No. 10 Michigan State
- No. 12 Iowa
- No. 13 Ohio State
- No. 17 Indiana
- No. 23 Michigan
- No. 24 Illinois
- No. 25 Purdue
Rutgers, Minnesota and Maryland are all in the top 40 as well.
Wisconsin, Michigan State, Iowa, Ohio State and Michigan are still undefeated. Illinois suffered its first loss of the season on Wednesday night to Baylor.
For the next week or so, most of these teams are rounding out their nonconference schedules with mid or low-major opponents. However, the Big Ten/ACC Challenge begins in Dec. 8 and that will include several high-profile matchups including Illinois-Duke, Louisville-Wisconsin, Michigan State-Virginia, Ohio State-Notre Dame, Indiana-Florida State and North Carolina-Iowa.
The Big Ten conference slate begins on Dec. 13.
