The first game of the college football season officially has a start time.

Illinois has announced that the season opener against Nebraska on Saturday, Aug. 28 will have a 1 p.m. ET kickoff. The Week 0 bout between B1G West foes is scheduled to air on FOX as part of the Network’s Big Noon Kickoff.

Memorial Stadium in Champaign will be the host site of this year’s game. The contest was originally going to be played in Dublin, Ireland, however the pandemic caused a shift in plans and it will now be a home game for the Fighting Illini.

Both Illinois and Nebraska are coming off losing seasons in 2020, with the Fighting Illini finishing 2-6 and the Huskers ending at 3-5. Illinois won last year’s head-to-head matchup 41-23.

Nebraska leads the all-time series against Illinois 13-4-1.
