College Gameday analyst Kirk Herbstreit released his weekly “top performers” list and he’s giving a lot of credit to three Big Ten players.

No. 1 on the list is Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz, who was outstanding in his collegiate debut. He threw for 248 yards and five touchdowns in a 45-7 victory over Illinois.

Sadly, his next game is going to have to wait a bit as he tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend. He will have to be out for 21 days as per the Big Ten protocol.

Michigan linebacker Michael Barrett was next up on the list at No. 2. He forced a fumble by Minnesota quarterback Tanner Morgan in the first quarter which led to a Wolverine touchdown. He also had seven total tackles during the game.

Quarterback Justin Fields was next up on the list at No. 3. He had 276 yards passing and three touchdowns (one rushing) in Ohio State’s 52-17 win over Nebraska.

Outside the Big Ten, Javonte Williams of North Carolina made it, as well as Carson Strong (Nevada), Malik Willis (Liberty), and Desmond Ridder (Cincinnati).
