Kirk Herbstreit names top teams, best performers from Week 1

A weekly tradition has returned.
Following every weekend in the regular college football season, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit tweets out his top four teams, his top performances and best teams from the previous week of play. With This past weekend marking the first full weekend of the college football season, Herbstreit released his lists.
Herbstreit hasn’t mentioned his top four teams yet, but he did go ahead and list his five favorite teams from the weekend. They were:
- Georgia State
- Boise State
- Auburn
- Oklahoma
- Wisconsin
Wisconsin was the lone B1G team to get any recognition from Herbstreit. The Badgers posted an impressive 49-0 road win over USF in Tampa.
Herbstreit also listed his top player performances from Week 1:
- Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma
- Hank Bachmeier, QB, Boise State
- Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin
- Brandon Talton, K, Nevada
- Deandre Square, LB, Kentucky
Again, Taylor was the B1G’s only representative for Herbstreit. The Wisconsin running back finished the day with 135 rushing yards and 48 receiving yards to go along with four touchdowns.
Nevada kicker Brandon Talton drilled a 56-yard field goal attempt to defeat Purdue.
