It’s been two days since Week 13 wrapped up, and that means those who evaluate college football have had their chance to look over all of the action and deal out some praise.

That includes ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit. On Monday, he sent out his top performing players, coaches and teams from Week 13’s action. Good news for Big Ten fans: Some of the conference’s top performers earned praise from Herbstreit.

Let’s start with Herbie’s top teams. Iowa State claimed the top spot after the Cyclones went into Austin and defeated Texas in a Big 12 showdown. Notre Dame comes in at No. 2 after holding off North Carolina and staying unbeaten.

The lone Big Ten representative comes in the form of Michigan State.

The Spartans earn the love after stunning Northwestern and handing the Wildcats their first loss of the season.

The Fighting Irish rated high again in the top performing coaches area. Defensive coordinator Clark Lea earned the top spot for his unit’s performance against the Tar Heels.

At No. 5, the Big Ten emerges in the form of Greg Schiano. In his second stint in Piscataway, Schiano continues to impress with his quick turnaround of the Rutgers program. That was on display this past weekend when Schiano’s squad defeated Purdue on the road.

Penn State coach James Franklin comes in at No. 7. After a horrendous season to start, the Nittany Lions earned that evasive first win against Michigan this past Saturday.

As for top performing players, the Big Ten was shut out of that list. Jaret Patterson from Buffalo earned the top spot after nearly breaking the record for most rushing yards in a single game.
