ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit loved what he saw from Minnesota football in Week 11. He ranked the Golden Gophers No. 2 on his top performing teams, top performing coaches and top performing players of the week on Monday morning.

Minnesota picked up one of the biggest wins in program history with a, 31-26, victory against Penn State, who was rated No. 3 in the first College Football Playoff rankings last week. Both teams were previously undefeated as well.

The Golden Gophers are now 9-0, which is their best start since 1904. For that, coach P.J. Fleck was also No. 2 on his coaching performances list. Fleck is 21-13 as head coach at Minnesota.

The Golden Gophers knocked off Penn State behind an incredible quarterback performance from Tanner Morgan. He threw just two incomplete passes, going 18 of 20 for 339 yards and three touchdowns. He averaged an incredible 17 passing yards per attempt.

He had plenty of help from wide receiver Rashod Bateman. He came close to setting a new program record with seven receptions, 203 receiving yards and a touchdown in the victory.

The big win, though, only means that Minnesota will play another big game this weekend. The Golden Gophers will face the Iowa Hawkeyes on the road at 4 pm ET on Saturday.

Also from the B1G, Illinois defensive back Sydney Brown made Herbstreit’s top performing players list for Week 11. He had 13 total tackles with eight solos, two interceptions, one pass defense and a touchdown in a 37-34 victory against Michigan State.
