Kirk Herbstreit on Monday dropped his top-performing coach list from Week 8 of the college football schedule, and it featured a B1G head coach and a trio of coordinators.

Jim Knowles, Ohio State’s defensive coordinator, received a nod from Herbstreit after the Buckeyes’ 20-12 win over Penn State in Columbus. The Nittany Lions were held to just 240 yards of total offense, including 49 rushing yards.

Joe Ross also landed on Herbstreit’s list after Minnesota’s defense held Iowa to 11 rushing yards. The Golden Gophers defeated the Hawkeyes 12-10, their first win in Iowa City since 1999.

A 3rd B1G DC on Herbstreit’s top performers list was Nebraska’s Tony White as the Cornhuskers grinded out a 17-9 win over Northwestern. Brendan Sullivan was taken down 8 times as the Huskers made it back-to-back opponents with less than 10 points for the 1st time in 13 years.

Finally, Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano led the Scarlet Knights to a 31-14 win over Indiana. The Scarlet Knights have clinched bowl eligibility and have reached the 6-win plateau for the first time since 2014.
