Kyler Murray is shifting his focus from baseball and is instead fully committed to pursuing a career in the NFL as a quarterback.
On Monday afternoon, Murray made an announcement via Twitter, stating that he is committed to becoming a quarterback in the NFL. While he’s said in the past that he’d love to play both sports, it seems his focus is completely on football at the moment.
“Moving forward, I am firmly and fully committing my life and time to becoming an NFL quarterback,” Murray posted on Twitter. “Football has been my love and passion my entire life. I was raised to play QB, and I very much look forward to dedicating 100% of myself to being the best QB possible and winning NFL championships.”

Murray, of course, was selected by the Oakland A’s in the 2018 MLB draft and was guaranteed a $4.66 million contract.
Last year, Murray guided Oklahoma to the College Football Playoff and a Big XII title, throwing for 4,361 yards and 42 touchdowns, as well as rushing for 1,001 yards and 12 more scores. He was the winner of the Heisman Trophy.
Murray will be projected as one of the top quarterbacks available in the 2019 NFL Draft, along with Ohio State gunslinger Dwayne Haskins.
