Kansas is off to a hot start this season, thanks in part to head coach Lance Leipold.

Leipold has led Kansas to a 5-0 start, notching wins over the likes of Duke, Houston, and Iowa State, and it looks as though Kansas is eager to continue the forward momentum with Leipold at the helm.

It was reported on Thursday that Kansas is making an attempt to keep Leipold around, negotiating a new deal with the head coach.

Leipold’s name has been repeatedly mentioned for the open positions at both Wisconsin and Nebraska. Leipold played college football at Wisconsin-Whitewater and is a Wisconsin native.  He later became head coach at Wisconsin-Whitewater, leading the program to a 109-6 record and 6 Division III National Championships.

Leipold has made attempts to silence the rumors, saying that he is “happy” where he is at in Lawrence. The Kansas program improvement is certainly something to be happy about. In his second season at Kansas, the Jayhawks are ranked for the first time in over a decade.
