There’s little doubt the B1G is the best and deepest conference in college basketball this year. Five teams from the league are currently ranked in the Top 25 and three of those squads are in the Top 5.
The latest bracketology from Sporting News’s Mike DeCourcy, who also is a contributor to FOX Sports and Big Ten Network, suggests that the B1G is the best league in the nation, as well. With a little less than a month left in the season, he has 10 teams from the conference earning a bid in the NCAA tournament.
It’s the most for any league in college basketball. DeCourcy has the Big 12 getting seven bids, the ACC and SEC each getting six teams in and the Pac-12 and Big East each landing five.
Here are the 10 B1G teams DeCourcy has included in his bracketology, along with seeding:
- No. 1: Ohio State Buckeyes
- No. 1: Michigan Wolverines
- No. 2: Iowa Hawkeyes
- No. 2: Illinois Fighting Illini
- No. 5: Purdue Boilermakers
- No. 7: Wisconsin Badgers
- No. 8: Rutgers Scarlet Knights
- No. 10: Indiana Hoosiers
- No. 11: Maryland Terrapins
- No. 12: Minnesota Golden Gophers
Based on DeCourcy’s bracketology, the four B1G teams that would be left out would be Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern and Penn State.
