Lee Corso talked about what makes this Tennessee-Florida rivalry so special.

One thing that Tennessee fans have shown during the program’s descent since Phillip Fulmer’s firing is passion. Whether that is in the form of hope or the agony that comes after, those on Rocky Top certainly have a high level of craze when it comes to their team.

When College GameDay comes to Knoxville, that obsession for Tennessee football is on full display, as it likely means that the team is on the rise. Combine that with a matchup against Florida, and the fandom reaches a whole other level.

Kirk Herbstreit posted a video early this morning on twitter as he prepares to begin the show with Lee Corso. Corso detailed what this matchup means for both teams.

“The people, the passion,” Corso said. “102,000 people all for Tennessee.”

On paper, the Vols should have their way with the Gators. However, history says otherwise.

“16 out of the last 17,” Corso said. “That’s why all the Florida people are saying you got two chances. Slim and none.”

Tennessee fans will say, “this is the year,” while Florida fans will say, “we’ve been through this before.” Either way, Corso has been around long enough to see when the matchup was a toss up between two of the top teams in college football, and we will see which mascot head he puts on today.

Tennessee and Florida kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
