LOOK: There was an embarrassingly low turnout for Stanford's season opener
The first week of the season is always one of the most anticipated weekends of the college football season. Everyone is undefeated, meaning nearly every stadium in America is enjoying a great turnout.
Unless you’re attending a Stanford game.
The Cardinal played in front of an embarrassingly sparse crowd on Friday night, as there were more empty seats than occupied ones at Stanford Stadium. Here’s a photo that captured the really underwhelming crowd on hand as Stanford hosted San Diego State.

There is a (somewhat) good explanation behind the low turnout. According to the school’s website, students aren’t on campus yet, a solid reason behind the empty seats.
Still, a team ranked No. 13 in the country with Heisman Trophy candidate Bryce Love would surely draw a better crowd than that, right?
Apparently not this early in the year.
