This was an incredibly sad story.
Iowa State golfer Celia Barquin Arozamena was a special human being and golfer for the Cyclones. Earlier this week, she was practicing at a golf course less than a mile away from Jack Trice Stadium — where the football team plays.
She was murdered while practicing, as teammates found her body after realizing that her bag was abandoned. Colin Richards, 22, was charged with first-degree murder.
Prior to the football team’s game on Saturday, the Cyclones were going to honor Barquin Arozamena for being chosen as the school’s female athlete of the year. Sadly, the team had to honor her for another reason as well.
Here’s Iowa State’s band, spelling out her initials:

Both Iowa State and its opponent, Akron, are wearing helmet decals in her memory.
