Tragedy struck Austin, Texas not long ago, when former Longhorns and NFL running back Cedric Benson was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident. He was just 36.

As an honor to his memory, Texas will wear special helmet decals this season. A special sticker with Benson’s No. 32 will be worn on the back of the Longhorns’ traditional white helmets.

The University of Texas released images on Monday:

Benson was a member of the Texas football program from 2001-04, rushing for 5,540 yards and 64 touchdowns in his four-year career. He went on to be the No. 4 overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.

Benson had an eight-year NFL career that spanned from 2005-2012. He played for the Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers.

Texas opens the 2019 season against Louisiana Tech on Saturday, Aug. 31.
