The Big Ten had just one player picked in the first round of Thursday night’s NBA Draft (Michigan’s Franz Wagner), but several more came off the board in the second round.

Iowa’s Luka Garza is the headliner, as the reigning National Player of the Year went to the Detroit Pistons at No. 52 overall. The Pistons were one of the worst teams in the league last season and should have available playing time for Garza this year.

Illinois’ Ayo Dosunmu was also picked, landing at No. 38 overall to the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls have some depth at guard, but Dosunmu can play either the 1 or the 2 and should get an opportunity at some point during his rookie season.

Garza’s teammate, Joe Wieskamp, was also picked in the second round. He went No. 41 overall to the San Antonio Spurs. Wieskamp had an excellent pre-draft process and his shooting ability will likely land him early playing time with the Spurs.

Here’s a complete recap of the Big Ten’s busy second round:

  • Illinois G Ayo Dosunmu | Chicago Bulls | No. 38 overall
  • Iowa F Joe Wieskamp | San Antonio Spurs | No. 41 overall
  • Michigan F Isaiah Livers | Detroit Pistons | No. 42 overall
  • Nebraska G Dalano Banton | Toronto Raptors | No. 46 overall
  • Iowa C Luka Garza | Detroit Pistons | No. 52 overall
  • Maryland F Aaron Wiggins | Oklahoma City Thunder | No. 55 overall

A number of other former Big Ten stars have already signed free agent contracts with teams as well. That includes Ohio State’s Duane Washington Jr. (Indiana Pacers) and Michigan State’s Aaron Henry (Philadelphia 76ers).
