More honors continue to pour in for Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell.
On Thursday, Fickell was named the Walter Camp National Coach of the Year. He guided the Bearcats to a 13-0 season and an AAC title. Cincinnati became the first Group of 5 team to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Cincinnati’s biggest win of the 2021 season — and the victory that essentially put the squad in the Playoff conversation — was a 24-13 road win over Notre Dame in South Bend.

The Bearcats also posted victories over Indiana and No. 21 Houston.
Fickell is in his fifth season with Cincinnati. He’s led the Bearcats to double-digit win seasons 3 times during his tenure. The Bearcats hit 11-win totals in 2018 and 2019. In 2020, Cincy finished 9-1 with the only loss coming to Georgia in the Peach Bowl.
Cincinnati is 54-21 under Fickell. The Bearcats have not loss an AAC game since 2019.
