Injuries are the unfortunate part of college football, but those announcements are particularly disappointing when they occur in fall camp, before a game has even been played.

While there has been plenty of injury news through the first week of camp, some major injury news broke on Saturday out of Tuscaloosa. Matt Zenitz of AL.com was one of several to report that Alabama five-star freshman running back Trey Sanders will miss the entirety of the 2019 season.

Sanders reportedly suffered a significant foot injury on the final play of Alabama’s practice on Thursday. It’s an early blow for the reigning SEC champions.

Sanders, a 6-f00t, 215-pound running back from IMG Academy, was the top ball carrier in the 2019 recruiting class, per 247Sports’ Composite rankings. He was the second-best player out of Florida and was listed at No. 6 overall for the cycle.

Alabama is loaded at all positions, but he’s a player who could’ve had some sort of role for the Crimson Tide this fall.

Specifics about the injury have not been released and there’s no confirmation that he will miss the season, though that seems to be the consensus. It’s a tough loss for the Crimson Tide and for Sanders.
