Marshall is closing in on the massive upset bid in South Bend for Week 2, and the Thundering Herd came up with a huge play late in the fourth quarter.

That play was a pick-6 by defensive back Steven Gilmore. After driving for the go-ahead touchdown, Gilmore came up with the play that just might ice the game for Marshall.

He broke on an out pass from quarterback Tyler Buchner and beat the Irish receiver to the ball. Once Gilmore secured the pass, he was off to the races as the Notre Dame receiver fell down.

The pick-6 made it 26-15, Marshall. The Thundering Herd have since picked off Notre Dame once again – this time on a Drew Pyne pass – and are trying to run out the clock late against the Irish.
