Maryland opened the season 5-0 but fell in Week 6 during a tough road environment at Ohio State. Taulia Tagovailoa was not his usual self with a number of miscues that led to Buckeye points or points coming off the board for Maryland.
As for Illinois, Bret Bielema’s squad is having its own share of struggles and is still looking for a Power 5 win this season. The Illini most recently fell at home to Nebraska and are now 0-3 in conference play. Michigan State and Indiana are the only other league teams without a win entering Week 7.
With a win in Week 7, the Terrapins would notch bowl eligibility for a third straight season under head coach Mike Locksley. The last time Maryland went to 3 straight bowls came from 2006-08 under head coach Ralph Friedgen.
