Maryland vs. Indiana brings a showdown between a pair of teams looking to rebound in Week 7. Saturday’s game between the Terrapins and Hoosiers is set for 3:30 p.m. Eastern time with coverage on ESPN2.

Maryland vs. Indiana preview

Mike Locksley’s Terrapins roll into Week 7 after a bitter defeat to Purdue in Week 6. Despite a number of key takeaways, the Terrapins were unable to break through until late in the fourth quarter.

In the end, a couple of controversial plays — and a blocked extra point attempt — led to Maryland’s 2-point loss to the Boilermakers. Now, the Terps need to find a way to rebound with some winnable games on the schedule.

Taulia Tagovailoa also continues his assault on Maryland’s all-time record book with the program record for passing touchdowns within sight. Tagovailoa currently sits at 44 touchdowns with the No. 1 mark sitting at 49.

While Tagovailoa would need a monster outing to tie — or surpass — the record, it is not entirely out of the question. It would also likely translate to a huge win for the Terrapins if Tagovailoa produces those types of numbers.

On the other side of the matchup, Indiana is in a rough spot at 3-3 overall. After starting the season 3-0, the Hoosiers have fallen in 3 straight games and now face an uphill battle the rest of the way to try and reach bowl eligibility.

Offensively, Indiana has struggled lately. Despite averaging nearly 80 plays per game, the Hoosiers are compiling just 357 yards of total offense per game.

Other issues offensively include the passing game with Connor Bazelak completing just over 52% of his passes this season. That includes 9 touchdowns with 6 interceptions entering Week 7.

Despite those numbers, the issues should not be fully placed on Bazelak’s shoulders. The rushing game is producing less than 100 yards per game and is averaging right at 3 yards per carry.

Defensively, Indiana has been solid at times but faces a tough matchup going against the offensive firepower of Maryland. The Hoosiers are allowing opposing QBs to complete 66% of passes for over 280 yards per game. If Tagovailoa and the Terps get on a roll early, it could be a long afternoon for the Hoosiers, even playing at home in Bloomington.

Maryland vs. Indiana prediction

Even playing away from home, this game sets up well for the Terrapins and is a worrisome spot for the Hoosiers in Bloomington. Maryland has a nice shot to bounce back in a big way in Week 7.

Prediction: Maryland 31, Indiana 13
