McKenzie Milton may not be suited up for UCF in the Fiesta Bowl matchup against LSU, but he’ll be in attendance to cheer on his team.

Thursday morning, Milton’s mother, Teresa, tweeted out an update on her son. The UCF star quarterback is scheduled to have surgery on Thursday to make him more comfortable and he plans to be in Arizona on Jan. 1.

“Good Morning Knight Nation!” Teresa Milton tweeted out. “Wanted to thank you all for the prayers and good thoughts! Yesterday KZ has a ultra sound and it was music to our hearts! Today a surgery to get him more comfortable! He will be at the Fiesta Bowl to cheer his teammates on to victory! Arizona bound.”

Milton suffered a gruesome knee injury in UCF’s regular season finale against USF. He was the AAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2018.

The UCF quarterback suffered nerve damage and has already undergone three surgeries.

Earlier this week, former UCF and current Nebraska head coach Scott Frost told the Orlando Sentinel that Milton was “like a son” to him and that if anyone could bounce back from such a horrific injury, Milton was the one.
