“We got rid of the turnover chains and stuff like that,” Mirabal told Mauigoa. “We’re here to play football.”

In December, Mario Cristobal, a Miami alum, left Oregon to be the new head coach of the Hurricanes upon the firing of Manny Diaz. Apparently Cristobal wants to change the culture of the program he inherited.

Miami introduced the turnover chain in the 2017 season, launching a sideline prop craze in college football. The turnover chain changed over the years, featuring the school’s “U” logo/helmet and 305 (the Miami area code).

It was also a noted target for trolling, as Michigan State did in September after beating the Canes.
