Micah Potter, former B1G forward, acquired by new NBA G League team for 2022-23 season
Micah Potter, a forward at Ohio State before transferring to Wisconsin, has landed with the Motor City Cruise, the NBA G League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons.
Potter was an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin and signed with the Miami Heat after playing for them in the 2021 NBA Summer League. After his release, he joined the Heat’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. After averaging a double-double (14.1 points/10.7 rebounds), he was named to the G League’s all-rookie team. He also played in 3 games with the Pistons after signing a 10-day contract with them.
After a spell with the New York Knicks’ Summer League team in 2022, Potter on Thursday was acquired by the Cruise, along with a Sioux Falls 2023 2nd-round pick in the G-League Draft.
In college, he signed with Ohio State as a 3-star recruit from the class of 2016, playing 2 seasons before heading to Madison. After sitting out the 2018-19 season, he averaged double-digits in scoring in 2019-20 and 2020-21.
