The Big Ten Network’s Andy Katz released his latest Big Ten power rankings on Monday, and Michigan was his clear choice for No. 1.

Michigan cemented itself as one of the nation’s top teams over the weekend with a victory over Ohio State. That win puts Juwan Howard’s squad in an excellent position to win the Big Ten regular season championship and be a No. 1 seed this March.

And while the Buckeyes have been impressive this season, they aren’t No. 2 on Katz’s list. That honor goes to Illinois, who have won seven straight games.

Michigan and Illinois are scheduled to face off against eachother on March 2.

Iowa comes in at No. 4 and is suddenly on a four-game winning streak after running into a rough patch in early February.

Purdue is Katz’s No. 5 team in the Big Ten, as the Boilermakers have quietly had a strong season. They don’t have a National Player of the Year candidate or No. 1 seed hopes, but they’ve been solid — 10-6 in conference play and 9-1 overall at home.
