One of the biggest games of the college football season drew one of the biggest audiences of the year.

Sunday, FOX Sports PR announced that Saturday’s clash between Michigan and Michigan State was the highest rated game on FOX for the afternoon, according to Nielsen Media Research. It was also the network’s second-highest rated game of the year.

According to FOX Sports, the game drew a 3.7 metered market rating. Viewership was up 236 percent from the comparable game last fall.

Michigan posted a 21-7 win over Michigan State.

There was plenty on the line to draw a huge audience on Saturday afternoon. The race in the B1G East, state bragging rights and, of course, the pre-game scuffle all played into the monster ratings.

Michigan improved to 7-1 on the year with the win. Michigan State is 4-3.
