The annual Navy-Army football game is one of the best events in all of sports. The rivalry, the pageantry and the game is one of the best traditions in college football, and serves as a constant reminder that there’s more to life than football.

This week, Navy has revealed its uniforms for the annual matchup, and this year’s outfit will celebrate the program’s tradition and history with a special throwback look. Navy released a video and some images on Twitter of the look for the Dec. 14 contest.

The uniform is a throwback to the 1960s Navy teams, and “pays tribute to those who have paved the road to greatness in Navy Football history,” according to the team website.

Each helmet is also custom painted to combine “the likeness of the 1960s Navy Football headpiece and the bronze texture of the Heisman Trophy.” The numbers 12 and 27 will be on the front of the helmet, representing the program’s two Heisman Trophy winners, Roger Staubach and Joe Bellino.
