Mike Leach is at it again!
It is nearly a bi-weekly occurrence for the head coach at Washington State to drop a memorable quote or rant. He has long sounded off on any topic that piques his interest, but the one from Monday’s press conference may be the most peculiar.
This time, Leach went off on a tangent about the prevalence of lip readers in America. He sure appeared to be sarcastic, noting that football coaches are clearly worried about lip readers when they cover their mouths on the sidelines while making calls.
Fortunately, Leach has an idea to combat the problem:
“That’s the world we live in,” said Leach. “Everybody can read lips nowadays…What they ought to do is just give these guys mouth covers. I ought to invent this!
“Instead of like a Zoro mask that covers the eyes, we’re gonna just have one that covers the mouth,” explained Leach. “We could sell it to football coaches everywhere…Then they don’t have to constantly hold up their script and on that rare occasion, they forget to hold up their script.”
Here’s Leach’s rant, tweeted out by Brenna Greene of KREM2 Sports:
I don’t even know where to begin with this rant. Mike Leach says we should invest football veils to help conceal coach’s lips since America is a bastion of lip readers. This is part one. pic.twitter.com/DBsIGaEcX8

He then takes it a step farther and says Oregon would have a swoosh on theirs, while the Cougs should have some whiskers and cougar teeth. pic.twitter.com/3lSM3BBqZA
