Unfortunate news hit the college football world on Sunday, with the Military Bowl being canceled because of COVID-19 concerns. The bowl released a statement on the situation.

Because of COVID-19 concerns within the Boston College football program, Monday’s game between the Eagles and East Carolina has been called off. It’s one of three games that has been canceled this offseason, along with the Hawai’i Bowl and Fenway Bowl.

Shortly after the news broke, the Military Bowl released a statement:

Boston College entered the game 6-6 and East Carolina was 7-5. It appears that will be how the seasons end for both teams involved in the bowl game.

Though we made it through a college football season successfully, we’re starting to see more bowl games getting canceled. Hopefully it’s not a trend.
