Minnesota-Ohio State 'all access' hoops broadcast on FS1 draws negative reviews across social media
The Minnesota vs. Ohio State basketball game on Thursday night is being aired on FS1 with a twist. Dubbed as an “all access” broadcast, the game features both of the head coaches mic’d up throughout the game.
That means Ben Johnson and Chris Holtmann can be heard throughout the flow of the game, barking instructions and motivating their respective players. The broadcast also features up-close look-ins at each team’s huddle during timeouts with live comments from the head coaches included.
It is certainly an interesting tactic to try and build interest in college basketball, but so far the broadcast has not been well-received on social media. Across the board, most fans have expressed a negative reception to the constant chatter from the coaches while preferring a traditional broadcast with normal announcers.
Here’s a glimpse at some of those reactions on Twitter:
This new “All-Access” thing that FS1 has been doing this season is easily one of the worst ways imaginable to watch a college basketball game. pic.twitter.com/xwl0y8uXd6

Is this FS1 All-Access thing gonna be for the entire Ohio State-Minnesota game?
Asking for … my ears.

I understand the concept of an all-access broadcast, but this is not good… @FS1

This @FS1 “all access” coverage is unwatchable

What is going on in this OSU/Minnesota game on FS1? Both coaches fully micd? Huddle access? When did this become a thing?

This FS1 All-Access is stupid…it’s just both coaches yelling during gameplay…why even have commentators, you can barely hear them😂

@FS1 All Access is awful, please stop. I don’t need to hear coaches yelling the entire time. pic.twitter.com/a9LO10nm2p

It’s time for @FS1 to get rid of the all access for Ohio State vs. Minnesota game. Listening to coaches has zero value to the viewer. Frankly, it’s painful to watch.

These poor announcers, how are they supposed to call a game over coaches yelling the entire time? I’ve gone to mute @FS1

.@FS1 really wants to die on this terrible All Access hill tonight.

@FS1 whatever this all access thing is you’re doing in the Ohio State/Minnesota game ain’t it. And I am an avid basketball fan

This all access on FS1 is obnoxious, distracting and awful. Just let me watch the game… I don’t want to hear the coaches the entire game. @FS1 #GoBucks
