Mr. Irrelevant in the 2024 NFL Draft has been determined with the New York Jets making the final selection of the weekend!

Historically, the final pick in the draft has become known as “Mr. Irrelevant,” a nod to the improbability of the 7th-round pick to make a major impact in the NFL. However, the pick in recent years has become known as the Brock Purdy pick after the former Iowa State quarterback was selected by the San Francisco 49ers before eventually taking hold of the starting QB job.

This year, Mr. Irrelevant hails from Alabama and the final team of Nick Saban’s illustrious coaching career. With the 257th overall pick, the New York Jets selected Alabama defensive back Jaylen Key.

After 4 seasons at UAB, Key transferred to Alabama for his final college season and finished 6th on the team with 60 total tackles. He added an interception, and now he will get his chance to try and make an NFL roster.

The selection of Key also closes the book on Saban’s elite production of NFL Draft picks while in Tuscaloosa. Alabama produced 3 1st-round picks Thursday night, and Key gives the Tide 10 total selections in the 2024 NFL Draft.
