No. 2 Ohio State is the team with the highest offensive efficiency this season. The Buckeyes are 1st in the nation in points per game (48.8) and 2nd in the nation in total yards per game (543.7). Finally, Ohio State is 5th in the nation in total yards allowed per game (253.5).
A team, who may not be as elite on the offensive side of the ball, but is better defensively is No. 5 Michigan. The Wolverines are 4th in the nation in total yards allowed per game (250) and 5th in points allowed per game (12.1). Michigan is ranked 7th in the nation in points per game (42.7) and 22nd in total yards per game (473.6).
Finally, the most efficient team in the nation on the defensive side of the ball is No. 24 Illinois. The Fighting Illini have the top-ranked scoring defense (8.9 points allowed per game) and top-ranked total defense (221 total yards allowed per game).
