NBC joined the fray of networks announcing select broadcasts for the 2023 college football season this week. On Wednesday, the network confirmed matchups and kick times for the first three weeks of the season.

From Weeks 1-3, NBC will air the first-ever editions of B1G Saturday as a part of the new media rights deal with the Big Ten. The first 3 primetime matchups for NBC will be West Virginia vs. Penn State, Charlotte vs. Maryland and Syracuse vs. Purdue.

Along with the B1G Saturday matchups, NBC also announced a trio of games will receive streaming-only designation to be broadcast exclusively on Peacock. Here is the full schedule of NBC matchups and games for the first 3 weeks:

Week 1 (Sept. 2)

  • East Carolina vs. Michigan — 12 pm ET, Peacock only
  • West Virginia vs. Penn State — 7:30 pm, NBC & Peacock

Week 2 (Sept. 9)

  • Delaware vs. Penn State — 12 pm, Peacock only
  • Charlotte vs. Maryland — 7:30 pm, NBC & Peacock

Week 3 (Sept. 16)

  • Washington vs. Michigan State — 5 pm, Peacock only
  • Syracuse vs. Purdue — 7:30 pm, NBC & Peacock

When the new media rights deal was announced by the B1G, it was already known that a number of basketball games would receive streaming-only options on Peacock. It was always a likely option that some football games would also be added.

Now, it will be interesting to see how teams and fans react with some of the league’s biggest brands already headed for streaming-only broadcasts early in the 2023 season.
