NBC is turning to Fall Out Boy to help fans get ready for Big Ten football in primetime.
The network announced Thursday that the multi-platinum and GRAMMY award-nominated rock band will be featured in the opening of NBC’s “B1G Saturday Night.” The show will open with the chorus of the song “Here Comes Saturday Night.”
The show debuts on Saturday, Sept. 2 ahead of the season-opening clash between Penn State and West Virginia, set for 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. The “B1G Saturday Night” show open will also feature football players, cheerleaders, bands and fans from B1G schools.
As pointed out by Awful Announcing, the network previously uploaded a video to YouTube with the intro featuring the selected song.
“We are excited to have Fall Out Boy star in our show open to help us capture the passion and pageantry of Big Ten Football in primetime,” NBC Sports creative director Tripp Dixon said in a released statement.
College football fans who don’t follow Fall Out Boy are presumably familiar with at least 1 of the band’s songs. ESPN previously used “Centuries” in the 2014 season.
