Baylor University has received a formal notice of allegations from the NCAA regarding the school’s sexual assault scandal, according to multiple reports.

The story was first reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. According to the report, Baylor has had the notice in its possession for almost three weeks.

It’s not clear which NCAA bylaws were violated, but the alleged violations are considered to be major, including a lack of institutional control. There was also a failure to promote an atmosphere of compliance by ex-head coach Art Briles, according to the notice.

The sexual assault scandal, which came to light in 2016, involved 19 players being accused of sexual or domestic assault by 17 women from the years 2011-2016. Briles was fired in May 2016 after the reports.

The NCAA began its investigation in 2017. Baylor will now have 90 days to respond to the notice.
