NCAA task force recommends removal of test score requirement for eligibility
An NCAA task force is recommending the removal of test scores as a requirement for eligibility who high school athletes entering Division I or Division II, according to the NCAA.
Morgan State president David Wilson led a group who examined the factors for this recommendation after almost six months.

Wilson explained the rationale behind the recommendation.
“This work reflects the NCAA’s commitment to continually reviewing our academic standards based on the best available data and other relevant information,” Wilson said. “We are observing a national trend in NCAA member schools moving away from requiring standardized test scores for admissions purposes and this recommendation for athletics eligibility aligns directly with that movement.”
The Division I Committee on Academics and Division II Academic Requirements Committee will examine the recommendation when it meets in February 2022. Any potential alterations to initial-eligibility requirements need to be reviewed through the legislative process in each division.
