New Mexico releases second statement on coach being taken to hospital
Week 1 of the 2019 college football season is coming to a close.
The Big Ten has concluded each of its first games and across the country, numerous storylines have surfaced. A scary one from New Mexico came about due to health concerns with its head coach.
Bob Davie, the team’s coach, was taken to the hospital after the game against Sam Houston State due to “heart trouble.”
Breaking: Bob Davie is being taken to the hospital. Believed to be heart trouble. Ambulance is at the stadium. No post game press conference.

After the game, New Mexico’s athletic director issued a statement:

“Bob Davie has been taken to a hospital as result of what appeared to be a serious medical condition.”

A second statement came overnight from the university, providing a hopeful update:
“On behalf of the Davie family, we would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Coach Davie is doing well and recovering. He is surrounded by family, and your continued thoughts, prayers and privacy are greatly appreciated during this time.”
