No. 3 Georgia falls at home in 2OT to unranked South Carolina
The No. 3 team in the country has fallen!
Georgia entered Week 7 tied with Ohio State for No. 3 on the latest AP Poll. The Bulldogs started the season with a high ranking and had looked good through the first six weeks, including a top-10 win over Notre Dame.
However, Kirby Smart’s squad looked much different against South Carolina. Despite being unranked, the Gamecocks defense played hungry on the road. They forced quarterback Jake Fromm into a number of mistakes, including a crucial pick-six.
In the end, the game came down to a field goal attempt in double overtime. Trailing by three points, Georgia lined up for a kick well within the range of Rodrigo Blankenship. But this time, he pulled the attempt wide of the upright.
