No place like home: There’s been a very real home-court advantage in the B1G so far this season

Home-court advantage is apparently a very real thing in the B1G this season, especially when it involves conference games. We’re only a few games into league play this year, but the teams playing at home have been absolutely dominant.

After Nebraska defeated Purdue in Lincoln and Minnesota upset No. 3 Ohio State in Minneapolis, B1G teams improved to 13-0 in home games against conference opponents this season. That’s right, a road team has yet to win a B1G game.

Granted, teams have only played two conference games so far this season, but it’s still a pretty remarkable feat through more than a dozen games. It’s also created some serious congestion in the conference standings.

Michigan State sits at the top at 1-0, owning a half-game lead on 12 teams, all at 1-1. Northwestern is the only team that has yet to win a B1G game, sitting at 0-1. The Spartans travel to Evanston to play the Wildcats on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Will the trend of home teams winning conference games continue? If it does, there would be a 14-team tie for first place in the B1G. Talk about parity.
