Head coach Larry Fedora said Wednesday that players donated their per diem from the canceled game against UCF to support hurricane relief. The news was reported by David Teel of the Daily Press.

The Tar Heels were scheduled to host UCF on Saturday, Sept. 15. However, Hurricane Florence’s impact on the East Coast affected the game, along with nearly two dozen additional college games scheduled for the week.

According to WRAL Sports, North Carolina’s football equipment truck has also been used to distribute and transport supplies around the state.

That’s a tremendous gesture from the Tar Heel players after such a disastrous event.

North Carolina has returned to practice this week after taking several days off in wake of Hurricane Florence. The Tar Heels are scheduled to play Pitt on Saturday.
