Ohio State vs. Michigan is as big of a rivalry as there is in college football, and we were reminded of that during and after The Game on Saturday.

Despite being 20-point underdogs, the Wolverines pulled off the shocking 13-10 upset to knock off the Buckeyes for the 4th consecutive season. With the loss, the Buckeyes lost the right to play in the B1G Championship Game, and it may have cost them a potential 1st round home game in the College Football Playoff.

However, it was what happened after the game that lit the college football world on fire. The Wolverines were celebrating after the game, and that included trying to plant the Michigan flag in the middle of Ohio Stadium. This ignited a huge fight between the 2 teams, with cops even getting involved by pepper spraying players.

On Sunday, the B1G announced that both schools would each be fined $100,000.

The Big Ten Conference has determined that the actions of both teams following the Michigan-Ohio State football game on Saturday, November 30, 2024, violated the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy. Not only did the actions of both teams violate fundamental elements of sportsmanship such as respect and civility, the nature of the incident also jeopardized the safety of participants and bystanders.

As a result of these violations, the Big Ten Conference has issued an institutional fine to both the University of Michigan and The Ohio State University in the amount of $100,000 each.

The Big Ten Conference considers this matter concluded and will have no further comment.

This wasn’t the only game with drama after the game, as there were many other rivalry games ending with a team trying to plant a flag and the other team responding.

The Wolverines finish the regular season 7-5 and will await what bowl game they will be in, while the Buckeyes will wait to find out if they are indeed still alive in the Playoff discussion.
