Ohio State-Penn State is easily the best game of the 2018 college football season to this point, and the ratings don’t disagree.

It is the most-watched game thus far.

According to ESPN’s Media Zone, the Buckeyes’ 27-26 win is the best regular season game on ABC/ESPN in more than a calendar year, dating back to the sport’s Kickoff Weekend in 2017. It ranks among ABC’s top 5 highest-rated games in the month of September on record dating back to 2004.

As you’d expect, the game peaked at an impressive 8.2 rating in the fourth quarter thanks to Ohio State’s mystifying come-from-behind win — specifically between 11:15 and 11:30 p.m. — which is the highest overnight peak in college football this season among all networks.

It’s likely that we won’t see a B1G game like this again until the conference championship.
